About Charkin Maritime Academy
The Charkin Maritime Academy, sometimes known as the “Academy,” was founded in June 2016 by Sir (Dr.) Charles K. Wami in Port Harcourt.
His strong desire to support the development of human capital for the Nigerian maritime sector—severely lacking since the demise of the Nigerian National Shipping Lines Limited—led him to develop the concept and drive to create the Academy.
In addition, the founder wished to establish an organization that would help close the gap between unfulfilled admissions demands in Nigerian universities, particularly in marine education and training.
